Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a gorgeous theater-made baseball cap for a Marine stationed at the Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan. This was originally a Japanese air base during World War II which officially became a US Military Base in 1952.

The cap is direct-embroidered with a set of bullion Navy Air Crew Wings above a bullion Lance Corporal (E-3) rank, which is a chevron with crossed rifles below it. The back of the hat has a helicopter with U.S. MARINES under it, with the name MARK to the right. This is likely the name of the Marine, very sad he didn’t include his full name! Next to this reads MCAS IWAKUNI with the insignia for the base above it. The cap has some mothing in spots as well as on the visor and the little ball on the top is gone.

The hat is lined with rayon or silk and has a nylon sweatband which is in good shape. There is no size marking but it’s likely around 6¾. This is a fantastic theater-made cap perfect for any USMC collection. Comes ready for further research and display!
